Presentation of trilogy on sexuality Presentazione trilogia sulla sessualità

We can compare the discovery of heterosexuality, in many ways, to the discovery of America. Like America, it has always been there, but to understand that it existed it became necessary to “discover” it. Understanding heterosexuality, of which I have direct experience, has enabled me to understand its mirror phenomenon, homosexuality, of which I have no personal experience and no intention of ever acquiring it. Understanding why the Venuses of the Paleolithic Age (see photo) were so different from today’s fashion models, and yet still equally desirable, is what I set out to explain in my Trilogy, which you’ll find, along with my other writings, in my virtual display window. There you’ll find, in my Little Treatise on human and animal sexuality, the explanation of all phenomena related to sexuality: from homosexuality to transsexuality; from lesbianism to pedophilia.
However, in order to fully understand my little Treatise you’ll also need to read the two other books in the Trilogy: God, Being and Time, and the novel Swing over the Edge of the Abyss.
Anyway, if you read my following interview you’ll get a much clearer idea of what I want to say.

Why, Pietro, did you write this trilogy, which probed so deep into your private life?

The reasons were many, though definitely not to seek the limelight. I think my ideas, in one way or another, are destined to endure. Every human truth, inasmuch as a philosopher – even an amateur philosopher like myself – must be cautious about using such a grandiose term as truth, is destined to remain eternal. This is the main reason that prompted me to write this trilogy: to give meaning to my life, which otherwise would have been shabby and devoid of any significant event (and I refer to something meaningful not as something awe-inspiring, but as something absolutely normal, like an engagement or an important friendship).

Pietro, are there any other reasons that motivated you?

Well yes, of course. It isn’t good to be ashamed of yourself. In a certain sense, as a reading of my trilogy shows, we have all till now been ashamed of our intimate sexuality, our fantasies. This is probably one of the reasons why no theory has been able, till now, to explain such a simple system as the sex drive. We can’t read the minds of others and so we’re ashamed of ourselves. We’re ashamed of ourselves and then, beyond the just now stated physical reason, the more so because our sexual impulses remain secret.
One incentive for making such a difficult, disruptive choice to publish my trilogy was to offer a way out of and a solution to this human problem that afflicts most men and women. Women especially should read this trilogy. Beauty isn’t what the mass media claim it is, a codified beauty that doesn’t do justice to women and doesn’t like them. Beauty isn’t the anorexic model promoted by the mass media. Beauty is the ability to generate sexual attraction in another sex (or the same sex). This ability is very democratic, linked to “defects,” and less elitist than the current models of feminine beauty. In other words, the girl or woman next door (and the same applies I think for the boy or man next door) can elicit the same if not greater attraction than sex symbols like Angelina Jolie, Rihanna, etc.

What do you hope to achieve with your books?

I hope for a revolution of mores that will change the world. I hope to complete the counter-culture revolution of the sixties, a revolution that will change our current way of seeing things, at least as regards sexuality. I know that changing a millennial mindset is very difficult and will probably take many generations. I know the difficulties, and I also know that the personal price I’ll most likely have to pay will be very great.

What inspired the discoveries of your trilogy? How did you come to develop your theories?

I had noted a strange phenomenon: The women I imagined when I masturbated were either skinny and anorexic with high small breasts, or fat tall women with huge drooping breasts. This was the first step of my theory; what I call in my Treatise the micro/macro dialectic, that is, the dichotomy of enormous drooping breasts and small upturned ones; what substantiates another law of sexuality I hypothesized: the possibility of touching only on these opposite sexual poles, the infinitely large and the infinitely small.
Thus I arrived, without being fully aware, at a logic based on a binary dialectic, of the kind used in computers, and above all very similar to Taoist logic, based on the yin-yang contrast. The next step, as already mentioned. was my theory about time.

Who do you repute to be your ideal reader?

I believe it’s anyone who has the cultural and intellectual knowhow to read this trilogy. My language, on the other hand, I think is very clear and simple, meant for ordinary people who want to know more about how we’re made, how human nature is made. Or those who want to see how elementary the logic is that they’ve probably worked through for themselves. Even though I must admit that my writings can be better understood and accepted, at least initially, in the gay and lesbian community.

How have your books been received by your first readers?

Very enthusiastically. I must point out, however, that they were very open-minded people.

How did you gather the material you needed to write your books and what research did you do?

The final and conclusive insight of my theory came about in the late spring of 1990. Since then, a little at a time, I’ve researched the sources I needed to develop my books. One important source has been the newspaper “La Repubblica,” along with all its supplements. Since 1989 I haven’t missed a single issue of this newspaper. So much for the part on sexuality. As for the part about time, my father is a retired physics teacher, so at home there was a lot to read, although I got my best inspiration from an ordinary popular book which I cite in my paper on time.

What surprised you in writing this book?

I had fun writing God, Being and Time and the novel Swing over the Edge of the Abyss. On the other hand, I thought I’d have had even more fun writing the Little Treatise on Sexuality, more than I’d ever had before, even in relation to other writings I have in my drawer. Instead, I found it a colossal bore, though my re-reading of the printed book was as scintillating and delightful as drinking a glass of champagne.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Reading and writing are my only pastimes and are also what I enjoy most.

Are you working on other books?

I have notes and have collected material that will keep me busy for at least another ten years. Right now I'm undecided about where to start. I don’t know whether to start with a detective novel, from the second part of God, Being and Time, or correct and revise a completed piece of writing I have in my drawer, titled Metaphysics in a Hundred Aphorisms. Finally, I have a dream I’d like to fulfill: to publish my songs, as author of both the lyrics and the music.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

No! I think what I’ve said is more than enough to give you an idea of my writing and personality. Oh, I forgot! I’m a lover of aphorisms and, as I just mentioned, I’ve written some myself, which if you’re curious you can find at this link (youtube) or you can download a few (free of charge) (or just view them) in my booklet and ebook Philosophy in a Hundred Aphorisms.

No!
